Telangana Congress Senior Leader D Srinivas Passes AwayD. Srinivas | Congress senior leader D. Srinivas passed away Senior Congress leader and former member of Rajya Sabha Dharmapuri Srinivas (D. Srinivas) passed away. He breathed his last at his residence in Hyderabad at 3 am on Saturday. Family members said that he had been suffering from illness for some time. He breathed his last at his residence in Hyderabad at 3 am on Saturday. Family members said that he had been suffering from illness for some time. He died of a heart attack. He served as a minister and president of PCC in united Andhra Pradesh. Served as Minister in 2004 and 2009. He was very close to the then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The Congress party came to power in the state during his tenure as PCC president. Everyone called him DS. His body is now kept at his house in Jubilee Hills. Parthi’s body will be moved to his residence in Nizamabad’s Pragatinagar in the evening.Born on September 27, 1948 in Nizamabad, DS completed his degree in Nizam College. He entered politics as a student union leader. Worked in NSUI and Yuvajana Congress. Won as MLA thrice. He contested the election for the first time in 1989 on behalf of the Congress Party and won in the Nizamabad Urban Constituency. Later he won the 2004 and 2009 assembly elections. He served as Rural Development and I&PR Minister from 1989 to 1994 and Higher Education and Urban Land Sealing Minister from 2004 to 2008. In 2004, he played a key role in joining forces with the then TRS.Served as MLC from 2013 to 2015. After the formation of Telangana, he served as the opposition leader of the council. He resigned from the Congress party in 2015 as he did not get an opportunity to become an MLC for the second time. Later joined BRS. Worked as Adviser on Inter-State Affairs of the State Government. Served as a member of BRS Rajya Sabha from 2016 to 2022. However, he fell out with the BRS and stayed away from the party till the end of his tenure. Later, he resigned from the party and joined his family. But on the other hand, DS is staying away from direct politics due to health problems. He has two sons. Eldest son Sanjay worked as Mayor of Nizamabad. Younger son Arvind is currently MP of Nizamabad
